I strongly recommend Tristan and his team to anyone who wants to learn piano, regardless of age or level of experience. The first lesson I took with him immediately convinced me that I'd learn a lot with him, he was able to quickly evaluate what level I was at, what my strengths and weaknesses were, and what the best path forward would be. It has been two years since then, and I could not ask for a better teacher! I have seen great improvements in my playing, especially in regards to my technique, expression, and confidence. Tristan's team is incredible as well! I have taken many lessons with Maria who always offers a new perspective to the music that I bring. She puts a strong emphasis on expression and musicality, interpreting the intentions behind each passage and bringing it to life. I take weekly lessons with Gabriel who has taught me much about composition. With an extensive knowledge of musical theory and musical standards he always has insight and advice to give, even when my ideas are unusual or unconventional. In addition to regular lessons Tristan organizes concerts and recitals, this allows us to perform for others who share our passion for piano. These events build a sense of community and companionship, motivating us all to do our best, and allowing us to celebrate our hard work with our friends and family in the audience. All in all Tristan and his team have helped me bring out the best of myself as a pianist and composer, and I hope to continue learning with all of them for as long as I can!

J’ai suivi des cours de piano en ligne pendant quelques années. C’était une bonne expérience, mais après un certain temps je sentais que je ne progressais plus. J’ai réalisé que si je voulais continuer à progresser, la solution était de suivre des cours avec un professeur. J’ai donc pris le temps de bien m’informer. Lors de mes recherches en ligne, le site de l’Académie de musique Lauber a attiré mon attention. J’ai communiqué avec Tristan et suite à notre conversation téléphonique, j’ai immédiatement senti que j’étais au bon endroit. Ça fait maintenant un peu plus d’un an que je prends des cours de piano avec Tristan. Le progrès que j’ai fait avec Tristan est supérieur à mes 3 années de cours de piano en ligne.Tristan est un professeur de piano exceptionnel. J’apprécie sa patience, son approche pédagogique et son professionnalisme. Je le recommande à tous ceux et celles qui désirent suivre des cours de piano!

TL;DR: I highly recommend Tristan—especially for adult learners of all levels! I’ve been taking lessons with Tristan for a year now, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Right from the start, I was impressed by how responsive he was—he got back to me quickly after I submitted the contact form, which immediately made a great impression. What drew me to his studio was the clear emphasis on building an adult piano community. Unlike other studios where I was often the only adult student, Tristan creates a space that’s welcoming, inclusive, and tailored specifically for adult learners. The adult-only recitals are such a unique and encouraging part of the experience. (The kiddos have their own!) Scheduling lessons is flexible, which is a huge plus given my sometimes chaotic work weeks. Tristan’s teaching style is both clear and motivating—his techniques for building good habits and developing strong fundamentals made a noticeable difference for me within just a few weeks (as long as I practiced!). With him, I also built a huge confidence in public playing, as well as a general understanding of how to prepare for performances. One of the things I’ve appreciated most is the chance to connect with other adult pianists around my age. Being able to hear each other’s progress and share music we’ve been working on adds so much joy and inspiration. Each week, I genuinely look forward to my lesson. I always leave feeling encouraged, re-energized, and excited to keep making music. I personally plan to continue taking lessons with Tristan for as long as I can!

I spent my summer in Montreal for an internship and decided to seek out Tristan to bring back my slightly neglected hobby of playing piano from childhood and it was an incredible experience! Tristan taught me so much that now allows me to teach myself on my own and brought my skills to a level I couldn’t even imagine. He’s a wonderful teacher and just as amazing company, his passion for piano is contagious, you won’t regret learning from him!

Tristan helped me achieve my goal of acceptance into the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. I came back to piano as a mature student after a 20 year gap in lessons and practice. In just 1 year, Tristan had my technique back up to speed, and had me playing advanced level pieces I never would have attempted on my own. In addition to being a highly skilled piano instructor, Tristan is a uniquely caring and supportive person. He helped me with performance anxiety and coached me through confidence issues. He made learning challenging and fun and really helped me push my limits as a musician. I am forever grateful, and highly recommend him as a piano instructor!

Tian Ai Wang is a fantastic associated teacher at Tristan Lauber Piano School. After a 10-year break, she helped me quickly regain my skills and confidence. She’s patient, clear, and makes lessons enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn or return to piano!
