Terrible experience. Boris said the evaluation is free over the phone then tried to charge for it. There may have been a misunderstanding and the information was not made clear at all. I went for hair removal after doing medical treatment. On the phone he said he has been a nurse in Colombia for 18 years which I respected, and is why I chose to come for a consultation but when I arrived at the clinic his behavior was extremely unprofessional. Here's a detailed explanation why: Indeed, I called at 7:30am and we agreed to set an appointment for 5pm. Indeed, during our phone call he answered some questions as any health care professional should. He then called me at 3:48pm asking if I can come earlier. I said I will try to make it by earlier because I live 1hr away so if you're in a rush we can reschedule. Indeed, he said no no I will come to the clinic for you so we can do it today. However when he mentioned that today he was taking the day off and that he's going to the clinic specifically for me I explicitly said to him that is not necessary and that I can come another day. He said "no no no it's ok. I will do it for you" I said well okay then. I got dressed and by time I commuted and arrived to the clinic it was already 4:43. Bear in mind my appointment was originally 5pm as scheduled and he called at 3:48 asking I can reschedule to earlier. So I arrived 17minutes early not late. You can't call someone at 3:48 and expect them to arrive any time less than 4:45 if they live 1hr away. Indeed, he was familiar with the medical condition I had, having treated two cases in the past. However, I made it clear that it was not an emergency by mentioning that I had already been treated by a healthcare professional in Toronto who has seen over 50 patients with the same condition and had already treated my condition so I was not coming in for a medical treatment but just for hair removal. So there was no "emergency."I made that clear. As such, the appointment could have been easily rescheduled to a day where Boris was less busy. Not only that, for laser hair removal I contacted 4 different clinics downtown and they all recommend 1 session every 4-6 weeks with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 sessions depending on response to treatment. The average price per session for each of those 4 clinics was 80$ (for example one of the clinics I contacted in Ville-Marie which offers 6 sessions at exactly 459$ which comes down to 77$ per laser hair removal session). During the in-person consultation, he wanted me to do 5 sessions every two weeks for the course of a year at 150$ per session. That makes for 130 laser hair removal sessions over the course of a year. That's a huge discrepancy from the 6-12 session range recommended by the 4 other hair removal clinics. In other words, he wanted me to spend (150x130= 19,500$) to remove hair in just one zone (buttocks area) so naturally I explained that I wanted to re-evaluate. The exact number of sessions were not made clear over the phone. When I asked over the phone how much the in-person consultation would cost, he said it's free. It was only while he was evaluating my buttocks at the clinic that he said the evaluation is free only if you do the 130 sessions, but if you don't, then the evaluation is 120$. When I tried to explain that that's not what he said over the phone, he immediately said "get out." This all happened while I was on the bed on my stomach undressed in the hair removal room. In the evaluation (which lasted about 7 minutes), he told me nothing I hadn't heard before from the health care provider who treated me. It could have all been avoided if there was no miscommunication. Was it genuine miscommunication or was it an upsell? I don't know. But I hope my review sheds light on what actually happened. For anyone who comes across this review, I would be more than happy to share my contact information if you have any further questions/concerns. I've been going to Boris for several months now mostly for electrolisys. He does great work and my skin is less damaged afterwards compared to other clinics I have been to. He works quickly and seems to really know what he's doing. Currently he can also book appointments on a short notice with a fair bit of flexibility which is a huge plus for me. The price is a bit more elevated then some other places but you definitely get what you pay for!
