Sorry, long review I attended the academy in 2019, and if there’s one key takeaway, it’s this: it’s all about preparation. Prepare yourself for a path full of challenges. Come to class prepared, have your charts and navigation ready for the next day’s flight, study hard for your written exams, and always complete what your instructor asks. Success here demands commitment and discipline. Throughout Canada, students often share two common limitations: weather delays and aircraft maintenance. These are realities of flight training—largely out of anyone’s control. Many students get frustrated with delays in their progress, and I understand why. I know some who completed their training in 18 months, while others, like myself, took longer due to personal and financial circumstances. In my case, I had to pause my training, but the management truly supported me—they even allowed me to complete my flight tests without paying the remaining tuition fees upfront. That kind of support is rare and deeply appreciated. My advice to new students: always be prepared. If you’re not satisfied with your instructor, it’s okay—you can switch. Focus on what you can control. Don’t let external factors like weather or maintenance shake your motivation. This academy remains one of the top flight schools in Montreal. They have a solid fleet of about 12 aircraft and a dedicated team that’s continuously improving. If you’re serious about becoming a pilot, this is a great place to start—but be ready to put in the work.
If you want your destiny delayed this is the school for you. People studying medicine will graduate before you get your license flying with this school. All they care about is the money, you will have to figure out the flying yourself. If you’re still in doubt that all they care about is your money. Examine the reviews and see how the only people they respond to are potential new students(clients) and inquires that will potentially put more money in their pockets. Please I can’t stress this enough. Never pay upfront for a flight school. Wait till you have enough money then find somewhere you can pay by the hour .
I graduated from the academy of aeronautics with cpl, multi-engine and ifr rated licenses. My studies took me a bit longer as you have the opportunity to work part time while you study and after graduation get a work permit and be fortunate to have a status in Canada. The academy allowed me to expand my knowledge beyond aviation with plenty of discipline, patience and environment which allowed to become a better pilot.
I was able to complete CPL training accompanied with very well prepared instructors that helped me not only for the practical training but also guided me to become a better person.
Best flight training center ever!: Class experienced flight instructors, high standard aviation school programs, airplanes, simulators all I needed to succeed my commercial pilot licence. I want to thank the management and the instructors for their support during my studies. I Highly recommend the Academy of Aeronautics. This Academy is the Aerospace institute for the serious future airline pilots and professionals of the aeronautics industry. Big Thank you to all the staff of the Financial Assistance department.
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this flight school, and I urge everyone to avoid it at all costs. From the beginning, they demanded a large upfront payment instead of allowing me to pay by the hour for my flights. Once they had my money, my flying time drastically decreased—they canceled flights for the silliest reasons and gave priority to instructors and other students in supposedly "more important phases" of their training. All the students at this school are painfully aware they've been scammed, especially international students who are trapped because the school controls their documentation. Despite starting my instructor rating in September 2023, by April 2024, I had a total of ZERO flight hours. It's baffling how this school is still operational. They will scam you and make your life miserable. Save yourself the trouble and find a more reputable flight school. If I could put zero starts I would they don’t even deserve a single star unbelievable
For the size of the school, I think that Academy of Aeronautics does really well. Obviously in any flight school, there is always room for improvement but the Academy recognizes that and continues to grow. The learning environment is exceptional. There is a great team of instructors and a very strong support system between the students. The team at the office does everything they can to facilitate a smooth and enjoyable training process. The school is very flexible when it comes to finance and scheduling especially with the growing numbers of students. Overall, I think that it has its ups and downs but remains to be competitive.
