I had painted in oil on my own for years, learning by trial and error, but when I decided to try my hand at watercolour, I felt some direction would be beneficial and I signed up for my first class at the Visual Art Centre. Was I pleased with my decision? So much so that I ended up taking additional classes for a half dozen years and was never disappointed. Not only were my teachers talented artists themselves, they also had the ability of transferring their knowledge and techniques to their students. A wonderful atmosphere to develop creatively with other talented peers while having fun. Highly recommended.

I have been taking pottery classes at the art center for about a year now. Very good experience. The open studio is a very good thing, I wish that hours were a bit more extended. Staff is friendly and helpful.This is a great place if you want to meet people, exchange and learn pottery as a hobby. Only downer is that the pottery studio is in the basement, It would be nice if it would be in one of the upper studios, especially since it is so popular and gets pretty crowded some times.

Am new to the city, and signed up for a pottery course after many years away from turning. Great class, professional teaching, and very friendly. The extra drop in times are a great added feature to the course, and it makes it certainly worth the money. I highly recommend taking courses here.

I've been attending the Montreal Visual Arts Center for the past 4 years and without prior artistic training have learned a great deal about drawing , color and the use of the various media. The instruction has been top notch and those attending the classes were very collegial and helpful to the overall efforts. Instruction is given in both languages and the 3-hour sessions go by seamlessly. I heartily recommend this institution for any amateur interested in furthering their visual art expertise.

Attended the "Ring in a Day" workshop given by Cynthia Hawkes and it was amazing! Cynthia and her assistant were very attentive and patient teachers. I went in without any knowledge about jewellery design and came out with two silver rings that look like they were made by a pro! The Visual Arts Centre has also put in place many COVID safety procedures such as plexi glass between stations, PPE and cleaning. I felt very safe during my time in the studio. Will be back for more courses very soon.

J'ai suivi 4 cours au Centre et je peux attester de la compétence irréprochable du corps professoral, de la bonne tenue des locaux ainsi que de la diversité de l'offre. Il est toujours agréable de visiter le Centre et son École. On y apprend et évolue dans le professionalisme et la convivialité.

Le Centre des arts visuels est une école d'arts plastiques qui offre un large éventail de cours, autant pour le débutant que pour l'artiste en début de carrière (ateliers ciblés). Les professeurs sont exceptionnels: artistes passionnés, ils sont également d'excellents communicateurs qui savent guider l'étudiant et l'amener à se dépasser. Le Centre présente également des conférences à sa Galerie McClure ainsi que l'opportunité pour les étudiants de faire partie d'une exposition annuelle. Leurs oeuvres y sont regroupées et témoignent de la diversité des médias explorés: peinture à l'huile, acrylique, dessin, fusain, sanguine, aquarelle, céramique, création de bijoux, etc... Le Centre opère aussi des camps de jour très stimulants pour les enfants lors de la saison estivale. La direction et le personnel sont sur place. Ils savent conseiller et vous donnent un service impeccable. Une formidable école qui concrétise vos aspirations.
