I bought a new Cube road bike from Primeau around 2 weeks ago, and the experience from the team was great! Upon purchasing the bike, I had to wait around a week for them to ship the bike from another store, assemble and deliver the bike to me. Since I had ordered it on their online storefront, I didn’t get the in-store experience but when looking around the showroom, I didn’t notice to see the bike I bought on their floor (maybe because it was an end of season model) meaning the selection certainly did vary from store to store. They offered a tuneup after a couple of weeks of riding, as well as a bike fit to ensure I was comfortable enough. The bike fitting was adequate and they were properly equipped for the task, especially since they offer it as a complimentary service with the purchase of the bike. They fit it well enough that the average person will be more comfortable after the adjustment than before, so highly recommend. For more precise and fine tune adjustments to the fit, seeing a sport physiotherapist who specializes in bike fitting is always helpful, but again nonetheless, the average person would benefit from the fit they get at Primeau. In terms of after-sales services thus far, I’ve been happy knowing they are willing and capable of helping. The bike I’ve purchased has dedicated mounts to install a bag made by Cube, and Mathieu, one of the managers was very helpful in reaching out to the supplier to see if they can get some of those bags. Marc-Andre, another manager at Primeau, was very helpful in resolving an issue upon the delivery of the bike, and providing adequate and timely assistance in the matter that took place. Overall, as a store, they have a great selection of bike specific products to service, clean, and repair your bike. They naturally will have equipment needed for road biking, mountain biking and cycling in general. They set themselves apart from other bike stores in the greater Montreal with one quality, knowledge. I’ll provide an example from the plethora of examples. When I inherited my grandfather’s old steel road bike, my bottom bracket was making an excruciating noise. Upon disassembly, after figuring out how to disassemble a solid tapered axle bottom bracket, I noticed the axle and cup surfaces were extremely scored. I promise to you, I called every single bike shop across Laval, Montreal, and the north shore asking if they sell solid tapered axles as mine was scored and needed replacing. The only place that asked me additional questions to try and help me out was Primeau. They asked me to send a picture of it, and lengths, and they were the only ones that told me that I was able to install a cartridge bottom bracket, something I didn’t even know existed as I was a newbie into cycling repair. They’ve continued to identify standards on bikes, compatibility of components across generations, and answer at times very technical questions, better than every other bike shop. True story, on the same bike in question, I wanted to install compression-less brake housing (cable) and wanted to know if I can purchase the jagwire road kit. Unfortunately Primeau didn’t have at the time, but at competitors stores, when presented to the service desk asking for compression-less brake housings, they kept giving me shift housing, hydraulic brake hose, regular brake hose, it was insane. Primeau service desk, the moment I asked the question, knew exactly what I was talking about and recognized my need, unlike other stores. It is normal to have the front line staff not be the most experienced in standards, but the technical staff at Primeau can answer almost any question you have, and if they can’t, they will spend the time to find out. They’ll call their sister stores and talk to the one gentleman who knows, and they’ll find the answer for you. They don’t stop at "no we don’t sell that here", they will actively help you see if they can source you the part or accessory you need and go above and beyond. Thank you the team at Primeau, I hope upper management congratulates your hard work!
J'ai été bien servi ,en 20 minutes mon frein arrière a été réparé pour moins de 25 dollars
I recently bought a Trek Verve 3 Gen 4 from Primeau Vélo Laval, and sadly, the experience was disappointing. After getting the bike home and inspecting it closely, I discovered that several components were not as advertised on Trek’s website: The grips and saddle were generic (replaced in-store after I complained) The handlebar was a Zoom brand instead of Bontrager — they swapped it later for a used Bontrager IsoZone after I returned The seatpost was also Zoom instead of the original Trek/Bontrager part The brakes were a brand called Power, not the Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes specified The brake rotors were generic, not the official parts When I returned to the store the same day, the staff told me "Trek shipped it this way" and claimed it wasn’t their responsibility. They did offer a refund, but I wanted the bike as advertised, not a downgraded version with used parts. I’m now contacting Trek Canada directly to understand how a new bike can be sold with mismatched or lower-grade components. If you're planning to buy a bike from here, inspect every part carefully before accepting it. I expected a better level of quality control and accountability.
