Latin Groove is a fantastic school — great vibe, amazing energy, and a perfect place to learn dancing. I give 5 stars for the school overall.

But unfortunately, I have to give 1 star for my experience with Nataly, one of the teachers. Throughout the class, she gave no feedback, no corrections, no direction. Then, out of nowhere during the evaluation, she tells me I’m not ready to move to the next level.

When I asked why, she told me: “you have to check with my boss.”
Seriously? If you’re the one doing the evaluation, you should be able to justify your own decision. How can a teacher assess a student and not even be able to explain what needs to be improved? That’s not just unprofessional — that’s a complete lack of accountability.

For context: I was evaluated two sessions ago by another teacher who approved me to move on. Since then, I’ve improved a lot — but I personally chose to repeat the level twice to feel even more confident. And now Nataly tells me I can’t move forward? Seriously? She doesn’t want me to move on after all that effort?

To make it worse: she passed someone who couldn’t even perform the basic steps — and yet held me back, someone who’s shown commitment, consistency, and actual progress. That’s not just unfair — that’s completely unprofessional.

What an unfair evaluation, Nataly.
I will not accept being evaluated by you again. And frankly, as someone who teaches dance, you need to seriously work on your communication and leadership skills. Being a professional isn’t just about dancing well — it’s about guiding students with clarity, fairness, and integrity. You failed at that.

I’ve been dancing at Latin Groove for nearly two and a half years now, and it’s truly been an incredible journey. I’ve had the pleasure of learning a variety of styles, including salsa, bachata, Zumba, and kizomba. Each class has been a fun and enriching experience, but I have to give a special shoutout to Franklin Velasco – his Zumba classes are next-level.

Franklin Velasco is, without a doubt, one of the best Zumba instructors I’ve ever come across. His energy is infectious, and his choreographies are not only professionally crafted but also deeply inspiring. He has a unique ability to make everyone feel the music and truly want to move. His classes are more than just a workout — they’re a full-on dance party that lifts your spirit and keeps you coming back for more.

If you’re looking to fall in love with dance, Latin Groove is the place to be — and Frankly’s Zumba class is an absolute must-try.

An exceptional dance school. They offer at list 30 different classes every week —something I haven’t seen in any other studio.

The teachers—Nataly, Franklin, Francisco, and Jonathan—are passionate professionals who share not only their love for dance but also excellent technical advice.
Attending classes here is truly motivating: you can feel the joy, enthusiasm, and drive to improve in every session. It makes you want to try all the courses!

I love Latin groove! This place is super fun with great instructors. I’m by no means a dancer but got a coupon to take a class here a few years ago, I’ve been coming ever since and bring friends for a fun activity downtown. If you get a chance to take a class with Franklyn, he’s super fun and it’s a great workout!

I just started pole classes at this studio and I’ve been having the best experience. The teachers are so kind, patient and knowledgeable. I am an absolute beginner and the space feels so safe and inclusive, the teachers also keep track of your progress and tell you when you’re ready to take the next class.

The studio is clean and big, and the staff is so lovely. I also enjoy the booking system, it’s so easy to purchase classes & book.

An amazing studio! The staff is very friendly and professional. Very inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. I am in my mid 50s and wanted to try something new and fun. Came here with my daughter. What a blast. I highly recommend Nadia as an instructor for beginners. Her explanations are very detailed and clear, she breaks down the moves and is very attentive. She actually pays attention to every student and gives them tips and encouragement! I highly recommend this studio!!

We came here for a bachelorette group of 15 women and had a fantastic time! The choreography was fun, our instructor was awesome, and the studio was clean, bright & easy to find. I highly recommend!

Had the most amazing bachelorette private class with Vy! She is such a talented instructor and instantly made us feel comfortable despite it being our first time working with the pole. What an incredible experience we had for my bachelorette with Milan Pole Dance Studio and our FABULOUS instructor Michael. We booked early in the morning and we’re up late the night before, but Michaels energy was absolutely contagious and he did an incredible job of transferring his energy we really loved him!! I’ve been dancing here for 3 months now and I’ve never felt more at home in a studio! The teachers are incredible and each have their own flair. No judgment, no stress. Just learning and a ton of endorphines!! Standout teachers for me have been Sonja, Amelie, Catherine & Alix. Go alone or with a friend, you won’t regret it

UPDATE ⭐

I danced here from Sep. 2023 to Dec. 2024, with a three month hiatus in the Summer. I have taken my time to formulate my review and my feelings changed for this studio almost immediately after the paragraph above. I wrote, said paragraph, after a prompt from the studio for their bingo game.

First, I give this studio 1 star for aesthetics and 1 star for the welcoming teachers/some of the staff. If you come from a strict dance or workout environment, you’ll be so grateful for this safe space.

The three stars deducted have to do with the dance rooms, the rates and the overall experience I’ve had.

-Small space and they jam pack you in. I felt like a sardine in heels 6 months in, packed into a room where I was afraid (be it for pole or floorwerk or stretching) of kicking a fellow student in the face and at worst, poking out their eye. These same tiny rooms are where they make us do our yearly showcase which I signed up for twice, your close ones can come for 20$ each and they donate some of the money.

I’ve personally never given a dance showcase in the exact room I learned in, nor was I expecting this year’s photographer to take such awful photos and be uncomfortable to look at us in our stripper/dance outfits. Was he not aware of the assignment ? We are learning to eroticize and emulate stripper stars…

Please note, the upstairs bathrooms are impossibly small and I’ve had issues shutting doors. I’ve also spotted blood and hair from a previous class on the dance floor 5 times… 3 times I cleaned it and the last two, I asked the staff what was up; in summary, they don’t clean in between every class. I’ve also often stood outside with fellow dancers in the cold because no one opened the door for me, despite me needing to be there 15 min. before class to get ready, as the staff was busy in a workshop or shoot.

-Rate-wise, for $215+ you get access to 12 classes, this is what I last was subjected to. I know that it is different and cheaper at other studios and you can have unlimited access for that price (although those studios have their issues too…).

Secondly, they have an 8 hour cancellation policy. and will switch up your teacher without a formal e-mail or proper notice. So you expect us to give you an 8 hour notice, but you cannot ? They also complicate you cancelling a class due to a teacher not coming in and flatly tell you you can only do this once.

-Overall: I felt gipped after the Halloween bingo (where they encourage you to take classes, but don’t mention you can only win one prize); when I asked where I could see the company’s contract to see the terms of ending a membership, they could not help me; they aggressively tried to make me a part of their summer photoshoot for free (which reeked of tokenism in their recruiting…); finally, there’s a money-grabbing & penny pinching energy at this studio that I cannot deal with.

The cleaning staff is composed of aspiring teachers and dancers and I’ve had a Ralph Lauren top ruined because a maintenance staff member left a bleach spill on the counter that I did not see…I’ve also had fellow dancers complain of staff inconsistency in terms of professionalism.

Luckily you get opportunities to dance elsewhere if teachers give workshops, for floorwork usually, but that’s not a given.

Anyhow, you can always try it for yourself and let us know! Classes are well-structured and I still stand by the fact that they do have some stellar teachers.

I absolutely love San Tropez!! They are more than just a dance school for me, they are family. I’ve been dancing there for 2 years and I feel like I’ve grown so much as a dancer. The teachers are all super professional and patient. It’s also a great place to make friends and completely disconnect. I couldn’t recommend any other dance school more than this one.

I can’t say enough good things about San Tropez! The instructors are not only incredibly skilled but also truly passionate about teaching and bring their all to every class. I’ve grown so much in confidence and technique since starting here and each thing I’ve learned has played a big part in my journey.
What they’ve built is more than just dance classes; it’s a communal place many get to call a second home. If you’re looking for a place to dance, connect, and get out of your comfort zone, this is it!

The vibe during classes is good. Thats my only postive comment.. Their philosophy seems to be :”squeeze the clients and take as much money as possible from them”. I enrolled the salsa clases. Two months after , they have tought me only the very basic 4 steps (mambo, side, cuban, newyork), which is not even sufficient to enjoy a salsa party at a basic level. There is no structure and no plan to build upon what you learned the previous class. Essentially every time you show up for the class you start from zero. At the begining this is fun but then after a few sessions it becomes extremely boring and the structure of the class is designed to prenvting you from making fast progress so you have to pay for more classes. Then, you need to request and evaluation to move forward to level 2, but they never mention that in their website. Once you do it, teacher’s guidelines/critera to decide wether you pass are completely arbitrary and unexistant. I did 3 evaluations. the 3 evaluations I was asked to do completely differenct things and in less than 30 seconds they made their decision. When I complained about this at the front desk their only solution was to offer me their 3 month membership or to spend even more money in private classes. They have zero profesionalim and respect for the money and time of students.

I took my second salsa lesson yesterday and absolutely loved it! I have major back problems and honestly didn’t think I’d make it through even one class. Even though I was sore afterward, I’ll keep going because it’s just so much fun—and everyone is incredibly friendly.

What I love most is that we’re all starting at the same level, so we’re learning and laughing together. I really missed dancing, and I’m so happy to be doing it again.

Huge shout out to Reily at the front desk! He makes the experience enjoyable from the moment you walk in. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and funny, and he answers all our questions with a smile. It truly makes a difference to have someone like him welcoming students and making them feel at home.

San Tropez introduced me to the wonderful world of Latin dancing about 11 years ago. Taking dance lessons at ST was undoubtedly one of the best decisions of my life. If I had known that it would bring so much joy & happiness into my life and also allow me to make so many new friends, I would have done this way earlier in life. I had never thought I would enjoy dancing so much as I was never a dancer growing up. The teachers at ST were so patient & encouraging, and their passion for dancing & teaching so infectious that after the initial few difficult months I started seeing progress in my dancing skills and then I was hooked – there was no turning back. Now it is such a nice feeling when I get compliments from my female dance partners. I thank Sonia, Moris and the other wonderful teachers every day 🙂

I’m grateful that I chose San Tropez to start my dance journey over a year ago. From the first class you see the professionalism of the teachers and the fun environment they create. Sant Tropez is not only a place where you learn latin dance but where you get to connect with others and make new friendships. Just attended CCX 2024 (Cat’s Corner Exchange) in Oct 2024! It was my first lindy hop event in Montréal, and it was terrific. Having a separate coat room/changing room from the dance space was a lovely touch—totally declutters the ballroom. Great people, great energy, great bands.

We are getting married in May and had our first dance choreographed by Vincenzo (with a little help from Maria). All you have to do is pick your favorite song and they will come up with something for you. The whole experience was amazing. They were all very patient with us as we had never danced before. And now we just performed our first dance in front of a whole group! (They offered/recommended this after we had completed all of our sessions, “to get the jitters out”, and it really helped).

Also, shoutout to Sonya as well. She provided excellent customer service and was always responsive to our texts. We will definitely send them a thank you card after our wedding.

We are taking lessons with Maria for our first dance and we are so happy to have found this studio. Maria is amazing and the choreography she designed for us is beautiful, romantic and well adapted to our level of experience (beginner). We looked up choreographies to our song online, and they did not even come close to compare! Maria really cares and encourages you to practice at the studio between sessions, which really helps.

We took dance classes for our wedding. We chose the song and Maria and her team built us a wonderful choreography. Maria is very patient and keeps things nice and light so that we’re always having fun. Great deal too!

My experience at Universal Dance Studio has been positive right from the start. Sonya gives great service, and you can even order dance shoes through her (not mandatory, but also not pricey, and super comfy). The studio is a very welcoming and unintimidating environment, and I love that you can sign up without a partner and still enjoy the experience. They even host social practice sessions. I started taking group Salsa & Bachata classes with Randolph and Veronique earlier in the year. They are patient, fun, and they really know their stuff! I enjoyed it so much, I did back-to-back sessions. I also have to give a shoutout to Vincenzo, who does the drop-in classes, and is also fun and very knowledgeable.

Everyone at this studio is really welcoming, which also makes it fun for those who are learning to dance for the first time! The teachers in particular are outstanding. From the moment you step in, you’re welcomed into a generous and supportive community.

My fiancé and I started taking private lessons with Maria a little under a year ago. Initially we wanted to learn to social dance but we also wanted to be more comfortable with dancing at our upcoming wedding. My dancing has progressed enormously since I began with Maria, she’s really a fantastic teacher and tailors each lesson to suit your needs and skill level. She sets a pace that pushes you to improve but doesn’t take you too far out of your comfort zone.

This was the the first (and remains the only) activity that I’ve gone to since the city has de-confined and I can honestly say that they really are going the extra mile to ensure that the studio is running in a way that prioritizes the safety their staff and students: strict safety protocols are in place with sanitation stations available throughout the studio, your temperature is always taken at the door before a lesson and all instructors wear visors, masks, and new gloves for each lesson.

Everyone at the studio is professional, friendly and energetic! I can recommend this place to anyone who is even thinking of dancing – couples and singles alike!

Alina developed a beautiful choreography for our first dance (wedding). She listened to us and quickly understood what we wanted. She was fun to work with and always made us feel good and confident. Her great sense of humour kept the classes fun. When we performed it, our guests went wild! She also helped my dad and me learn a few steps for the father-daughter dance, which turned out beautifully. Thank you, Alina!

Alina is an amazing teacher who has a fantastic attention to detail to make you a better dancer. She cares a lot for her students and goes above and beyond to help them achieve their goals in competitions. She truly is a gem and I’m very glad I found her !!

I recently picked up dancing again after stopping for 8 years and had the pleasure of joining Alina’s group class. She is an incredible teacher!! Extremely patient with so much attention placed to detail, and you can tell she is very skilled in what she does and truly wants the best for you. My husband and I decided to take dance lessons from Alina just a month before our wedding (held a few months ago) for our first dance. With no prior dancing experience, we weren’t sure what to expect. We are so glad we decided to step out of our comfort zone because it became one of the most memorable experiences pre-wedding. Alina was always so sweet and patient with us, she really made all the difference. In a short time, she choreographed the dance to the full song (which was fast-paced and a bit challenging as per our request) and had us ready for our wedding. Our first dance was the surprise of the night to our guests (who had never saw us do anything of the sort before), which made all the practice worth it. Highly recommend! Thank you again Alina!

I got married this September and Alina taught and choreographed my first dance as well as my father-daughter dance. Les soirées de danse de l’école sont superbe et le DJ est vraiment très bon. Sylvain et Chantal sont des personnes très attentives et ils aiment partager leur passion de la danse. Il m’est également arrivé à l’occasion d’assister à des brunchs d’affaires au Studio, la salle est toujours très belle.

Je vous recommande cette école (Studio Danse 361 )et leur entreprise transport au cube. Je connais très bien les propriétaires , gentils ,aimables,

I came to the Studio looking to improve my technique in Salsa. The Salsa teachers where always open and patient to help me go forward to the next level. Chantal is a wonderful teacher. I enjoyed my lessons and I had an extraordinary experience in the ” soirées dansantes “. Highly recomended!

J’ai commencé les cours de Lundy hop il y a quelques mois au 88 Swing et j’adore ! Super ambiance ! Super studio ! Les cours avec Didier et Tanya sont vraiment géniaux 🙂 Et les soirées du mardi pour pratiquer, c’est vraiment chouette ! Je recommande vivement.

Mon mari et moi avons pris plusieurs cours à domicile avec Didier pour apprendre à danser le swing “from scratch” en vue de notre 1re danse pour la réception de notre mariage. Nous étions appréhensifs de ne pas avoir de base en danse et d’avoir peu de temps pour préparer avant le mariage. Didier nous a montré la base sur une chanson de notre choix sans nécessairement chorégraphier la chanson dès le départ. Après quelques cours et l’apprentissage des aptitudes requises pour improviser et danser sur le rythme, nous sommes parvenus à maîtriser une chorégraphie très intéressante et notre performance au mariage a été épatante. Nous avons hâte de poursuivre notre apprentissage du swing au studio à l’avenir.

Les cours sont toujours dynamiques, sans prétention et les profs sont très accueillants! Une belle gang qu’il me fait toujours plaisir de côtoyer. Les styles de danses sont variés alors il y en a pour tous les goûts, et les prix sont compétitifs. Il y a l’air climatisé, c’est très apprécié, et un bon système de son. Il y a toujours une offre de choses à boire, au cas où on aurait oublié notre bouteille d’eau. Très prévoyant! 🙂

Très chouettes cours de lindy hop et de solo jazz. Je n’ai pas encore testé les autres danses, mais depuis un an, c’est ici que j’apprends les bases du swing et j’adore. Très bons cours et bonne ambiance

J’ai adoré mon expérience au Studio 88 Swing ! Accessible rapidement (5min du métro Jean Talon), une ambiance chaleureuse, des professeurs qui prennent toujours le temps de t’expliquer les pas et dans la bonne humeur ! Ça prend ce beau mélange pour te sentir à l’aise, découvrir une danse et avoir le goût de revenir pour retrouver ce beau petit monde! Une belle expérience !

Les profs sont supers fins! L’ambiance est vraiment cool. On se sent comme à la maison. J’ai eu beaucoup de fun dans mon premier cours et je vais continuer. J’ai fait beaucoup de cours de danse dans ma vie et je trouve que l’enseignement est vraiment bon!

Miriem is an amazing Bellydance teacher. She insures you understand the movement and dissects it in a variety of ways to insure you pick it up. She shows you in movement, adding difficulty if you should want to try something new but laying down the basics clearly and without any judgement. The studio is very friendly and fun with great space and welcomes everyone at all levels and styles.

Recommandé à 100% : professeur.es pédagogues et passionné.es (j’ai pris des cours avec Aïcha et Janier), la directrice du studio est si accueillante et sympathique, les salles sont très agréables et climatisées, l’ambiance est détente, soit le combo parfait pour profiter et progresser !

I’ve taken 3 classes here now with Rani who teaches heels and jazz funk. She is an amazing instructor, always lively, engaging and fun. Class feels very inclusive with people of all levels. And there are different levels too which helped since I took beginner heels classes and I never did heels before.

The studios have a lot of energy, Excellent teachers with high enthusiasm. Lovely owner, meets you with a beautiful smile no matter how busy she is.
Classes are full but in a nice way.
The place is always clean; inviting.
The experience there is wonderful.

The studios are nice and the spaces are clean. Moreover, the owner is very friendly. There are different classes offered and I particularly enjoyed the belly dancing and salsa/bachata classes that are very fun !

Ps. If you can offer some Friday nights and/or weekend classes, that would be really awesome !

I wanted to come here and say thank you to Sylvia who offered me a very good price to allow my daughters to enroll, after I told her I was in a financial bind . Speaking to her, she seems very kind and considerate. She was also very patient in answering my many questions. I have no experience with the school yet, but I got a good impression.

Avoid! I went ahead and enrolled my son in the hip-hop class but I wish I had paid more attention to the parents who gave poor reviews here.

The instructors are very nice, but the owner makes what should be a fun experience negative. Not only was she unbelievably rigid and short with young children, she was disorganized, did not communicate changes to the schedule (which occurred A LOT) via email – only by speaking to parents who were onsite, and was unbelievably rude when any form of concern or issue was brought up. She seems to think we should be grateful she allows us to let our children take dance classes at her studio.

I will never enroll my child here again. Run far away.

We love this dance school! Sylvia and her staff of teachers are very professional and creative. Our daughter has blossomed as a dancer thanks to their teaching. This is the real deal. She learns technique and wonderful choreographies. The only place to learn Broadway Jazz style of dancing.

Super expérience avec la compagnie Sylviaera, nous avions besoin de deux danseuses pour quelques numéros lors d’un événement sur le thème des années 20, la collaboration avec Sylvia et ses deux danseuses s’est super bien passée et nous avons eu tout un show de qualité. Les convives étaient ravis! Il est certain que je ferai de nouveau appel à cette compagnie si nous devons intégrer des numéros de danse! Merci à vous!

I wish I had paid attention to the parents on here that have already given this studio a negative review.

I went to this studio really hoping to provide a fun experience for my daughter. The woman who runs this studio, however, has really seriously weak interpersonal skills. The weird part is, I kind of like her, and think that she is working really hard. The problem is that her way of acting to three year olds is just…inappropriate.

My daughter cried her first class, and the owner said in a very loud voice–“No Crying! No crying!” Then she darted around flapping her arms and telling us that she couldn’t have any crying in the classes.

Of course, this really aggressive and stressed out energy is not going to work on a scared little kid.

The younger staff are wonderful, and have a better approach overall, but the owner works at cross-purposes with her own staff who are much better than her at dealing with a child who is shy.

At any rate, I have to give this studio a very low rating because if you sign up, and it doesn’t work out (which is quite likely), they have no refund policy at all. They make you buy very expensive clothing on the first day to boot.

Last class, we were basically told to stop coming, and were even told that our child was “not normal” (she’s doing fine at daycare where she doesn’t cry) but we were not offered a refund for our money or even an apology.

I honestly feel a bit guilty writing this because I know that the owner is not a bad person, but she’s a very clueless one.

In response to the inarticulate rant below: we attended a total of three classes.

École très dynamique, ratio professeur/danseurs très favorable, professeurs très professionnels, passionnés, rigoureux, exigeants qui ont à cœur la réussite des danseurs et leur accomplissement tout en veillant à leur sécurité. Beaucoup de passion, ma fille adore depuis son jeune âge!

Un environnement très accueillant pour les danseurs débutants et avancés. Les enseignants et le personnel sont passionnés et à l’écoute de tous les élèves, pour créer des belles expériences. C’est un bel endroit pour partager l’amour et la beauté de la danse!
